–PROGRAM INFO–

This program let’s you View/Edit NovaLogic’s Pff Files in an explorer like interface. I released this program a while back. There are many improvements as listed Below.

1.) Open/View multiple Pff Files at once.
2.) Add, Delete, Rename and Extract files.
3.) Quickly Sort Files by Name, Type, Size and Date
4.) Create New Pff Files
5.) Add files via Drag-Drop (no need for *.bat files)
6.) CD-Rom compatible (load and view Pff files directly from a CD)
7.) Simple and Advanced File View Filter
8.) Totally independent (no need for pack.exe)
9.) Select open pff files from a TreeView window (in case you have more then one open)
10.) Double click on a file will open if with the associated program.
11.) Compatible to file association (you can associate Pff files with this program so that it will automatically Open and Load a Pff file when you double click it)

–TO INSTALL–

Just unzip this file to a temp directory and execute the “setup.exe” file.

–OPTION–

“Time/Date Format”=Let’s you select between European and US Date/Time format.
“Show DeadSpaces”=Will show you dead spaces (a space in a pff file where a deleted file section is)
“Re-Use DeadSpaces”=When you add files they will be put in a Dead-Space if there are any. (saves some disk space)
“Always Overwrite”=The program will not ask you if it should overwrite a file.

–NOTES–

Do not end the program while it is adding files! (doing so may corrupt the pff file, even though it is unlikely)
Drag-Drop only works when you drag a file into the main view screen while you have selected a specific file (or else it would not know to which pff it should add the file)
I know that the File-Refresh takes a bit long, and i will try to optimize the program for speed.

This “Packit Tool” will pack or Un-Pack a PFF. There is a “Packit Help Readme” in the zip file.

The “Pack Program” requires two files in order to work, the “Pack.exe” and the “PackPFF MS Dos Batch” Files.

Right click on the “PackPFF Batch” file and select “Edit” in order to edit it’s commands.

–General structure of the coding is like so–

 

# 1: Pack Name.pff +*.bin (Name is the name of your mod)

# 2: + or – tells if you want to add (+) or take out (-) a file from the .pff

# 3: Name of the file you want to be packed. using a *.xxx is a wildcard pack or un-pack. It basically packs everything in the same folder as the “pack.exe” and “packPFF batch file” that is of file type .xxx OR takes everything out of the .pff that is of file type .xxx

# 4: Pack Name.pff option (Name is the name of your mod)

# 5: Opt(timise) essentially “de-frags” the .pff by moving all of the files into white space created by “deleted” files, thereby making the .pff as small as possible

This tool allows you to create or modify Novalogic PFF files.

Joint Operations (JO) Mod Tools are recommended for modding Black Hawk Down or Joint Operations.

converts a .bin file to a .txt file

TXT2BIN
converts a .txt file to a .bin file

 

Tools from DareHacker:

lwfbuilder
allows you to make .lwf files that are used by the game to play sounds.
It is also able to convert the .lwf to a .txt file.

BFCTool
commandline tool to decompress and compress various files (.wav, .dds etc.)

 

Tools from DV:

BHD2JO_3DI
converts a BHD 3di file to a 3di file that can be used in JO.

Usage:
Check “Convert PANM” if your 3di does not show up or crashes the game.
You should only check it when converting weapons.

Limitations:
Does NOT convert 3di files that have bones in them (GPP header)
Does NOT convert light data
Does NOT convert 3di’s with multiple rotating subobjects properly

DPTH2CDEP
Compresses the raw depthmap of a .cpt terrain file so that it can be used in JO.

DeSCR
Encrypts and decrypts files with a ‘SCR’ header used by Novalogic games.

–OVERVIEW–

• XVI32 is a freeware hex editor running under Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP/Vista/7. The name XVI32 is derived from XVI, the roman notation for the number 16. XVI32 and all of its components are developed by myself.

• The current release 2.55 is available since June 26, 2012. It comes with a complete online help and requires only 1.02 MB of hard disk space. There is no setup program needed – just unzip the downloaded archive to your hard disk! XVI32 doesn’t write any data to your registry.

• XVI32 is used by thousands of people all over the world. It was included in books like the Hacker’s Guide. Even people at Microsoft ™ do use XVI32!

 

–FEATURES–

XVI32 has the following main features. Especially note the highlighted advantages of XVI32. •XVI32 is a portable application, i.e. no setup program is needed, you can run XVI32 from your USB stick, no data is written to the registry

• data inspector to view decoded numbers (see screen shot; can be turned off).

What’s New in version 2.55:

• When pasting hex strings from the clipboard, separation of hex chars with spaces is no longer mandatory, e.g. both     0D 0A as well as 0D0A is now valid. This refers to    dialogs (search, replace and so on) and the menu item Edit |           Clipboard | Paste from hex string. Note: the formats can’t be mixed (e.g. 0D 0A00FF is not allowed, the    format           must be either 0D 0A 00 FF, either 0D0A00FF).
• Shortcuts for menu items File | Close (Ctrl+F4), File | Save As (F12), Address | Remember Address (Ctrl+Alt+R),       Address | Goto Remembered (Ctrl+Alt+G), Tools |    Options (Ctrl+Alt+O).
• Bugfix: Backspace now works within an hex input field when the whole hex string is selected.
• Bugfix: Invoking CHM help file now works when starting XVI32 outside its own directory.
