I asked this question some time ago over at Lonewolf's site and I was advised to direct my question over at the TIO chaps.

Briefly, I used to play a lot of multiplayer and design TKOTH/TDM maps. Nowadays, I play singleplayer mostly and have been on an adventure to create some missions, a mini-campaign for the Deadline mod.

I got my hands on an old copy of 3ds Max (7, to be precise, but I suppose I can go and find myself an older copy) and learnt how to add a building to the game, no problem. I wanted to add different sized zombies (I know adding new animations isn't possible) and a custom model for the flare gun and the flamethrower.

However, I couldn't find any tutorial on how to make organics (People in the MED) or weapons. I tried trial and error, but that drove me a tad bit crazy.

The TIO mod has an absolute wealth of interesting, quirky and outright beautiful models - so I think my best shot is indeed asking here.

1) Is there a guide somewhere on how to create your own weapons, preferably with moving parts - such as the slide on a handgun? If there isn't a guide, but someone knows how to do it, would it be possible to borrow some of your time to show me?

2) Is it possible to add new organics (People) to the game?




While you don't really see me playing coop, I have been enjoying the TIO mods over the years in an offline capacity and just wanted to say thank you. Fantastic mod!

Hi, first off, 3DMAX.
You can download it as a Student with proper serial for free.

Weapons, an area i have not working on but did look at.

Give me a day or so and i will bundle what i have (if i can find them) 3d models and some info on weapons...

As for people i looked into it but could never line up the parts properly, they looked more like an octopus that a person lol

Thank you very much for your response, 2DNED. This will be very valuable information!

What version of 3ds Max would you recommend? I have 7; however, when I was reading guides for creating people in Joint Ops, the author said outright that later versions don't work well in that particular case.

To be honest, a scary octopus-looking freak might be good for what I want to achieve Wink

Im using 3DMAX 2018 no problems. If you looked at the TIO Mod you might of seen a KFC Building... Built it from scratch in 3DMAX and imported it to the mod with no issues.

Ok, when you start 3DMax use the BHD Blank Scene as it will auto correct the size for game (Sometimes you have to resize items to suit.)
